Ebay Scams??? I'm new to ebay and was wondering if anyone can tell me about any ebay scams?
Question about ebay scams, what sould i do?? I have a friend who is selling things on ebay. She isnt really selling anything too expensive, mostly just clothing. But the thing is, she is scamming a lot of people, taking thier money and usually not sending the item. My first question is do you think i should tell someone, like the police, or notify ebay. I feel really bad for the people getting scammed. Also how much trouble could she get in? She said police wont get involved because it would be a civil suit, and the people would have to sue her for their money. She said they wont ever do this cuz it would cost a lot more to sue than what they actually paid for the item. I would just really like some opinions on what i should do??

how long can a ebay scam investigation take long, if the scammer is from outside the USA? I'm from the USA, scammed by someone in Italy. I got my money ack through paypal chargeback, but I pressed charge anyway! he scammed me of 250 usd and he scammed other 10-12 people! I don't know if they pressed charge as well dou. How does this suspicious Ebay scam (I think) work? I just saw an Ebay item was too good to be true. It was for a new electric generator worth at least $2,000. It had about 10 hours to close. The starting bid was about 25 GBP ($42 US dollars). No bids yet. Item location was in Illinois but seller was in Germany. Almost all of the seller's feedbacks were in German and 100% positive. Free shipping but must contact seller via email prior to bidding. How does this work and still the seller make money?

Ebay Scam, What is Illegal about being a Money Mule/Transfer Agent? I won an Ebay auction. Someone in Romania took over a sellers account and sold electronics that did not exist. The auction instructions told me to send the money to a person (money mule) in Virginia. This person did not know he was a money mule. He got the "job" off the an Internet site that said "work at home". He cashed my auction payment cashiers check and wired the money overseas to the "company" he worked for, per their instructions. I never received the item I won, because it never existed. Basically, the Money Mule laundered the money. I have to file against the Money Mule even though he did not know. He endorsed the cashier's check. If I file a small claims action, what do I write? Money Laundering? Mail Fraud? Internet Fraud? It is a sad deal all around. I will take advice and suggestions too. I lost over $2,000.00. I offered to settle with the money mule for $1,000.00, but he never responded.

Has anyone out there every been scammed on ebay? I recently bid on a handbag on ebay...made my bid then received an email saying all the bids were cancelled. Then rec'd a email from the supposed seller asking if I was interested in purchasing the bag. I said well yah..I bid on it. So then received an email asking me to send my address to have the pakaged shipped, and that the invocie would come. Well it came on a ebay header but I was sending the payment to romaina when the bag I had intially bid on was in california. So I emailed the real seller asking her if she had sent me an email , she then told me no and that she was reporting it to ebay and that i should do the same. I did report it to ebay and sent the all the emails i got from the criminal who was obviouslty trying to get money from me and filed a complaint witht the IC-3 which is a branch of the FBI that investigates cyber crime. So I was scammed by the "second chance offer" as ebay calls it in one of their forums. There are several ways to be scammed. And if so..what did you do?

Ebay Scams??????? I bought a phone on Ebay, and received a child's book in the mail. I've emailed Ebay and filled out a claim with Paypal. Ebay sent me an email 3 days after I paid for the item saying the user was fraudulent and his account has been suspended. It says that the item was not covered with Paypal's buyer protection insurance. Does it look like I will get a refund? Is anyone familiar with Ebay's policy? the seller has been suspended from his account...and I don't remember his user ID...and Ebay deleted the item I won...so im outta luck there :(

Have any of you guys ever received ebay e-mail scams? I have received a few e-mails claiming to be from e-bay. I do have an account with them. The e-mail usually has the same message stating something like, "It seems like someone is trying to log onto e-bay using your account and blah blah blah and please verify that you are the true owner of this account by logging in". So, you click on this thing and leads you to a so-called e-bay page where you have to enter a lot of personal information like social security number, credit card number, etc. I was like WTF? Why would they need to know all that? So, I got suspicious and didn't enter anything because I'm not comfortable entering personal info over the net. I don't mind entering things like name, address, etc. but definitely not my SS# or credit card #. Another scam I got was supposedly from the IRS stating that after some calculations, I was due a certain amount of refund. I didn't fall for that because why would the IRS send it through e-mail? Please share your experiences.

Is this an ebay scam? My dad just sold his motorcycle on ebay. The buyer says he lives in the Netherlands. He said after payment clears, his friend who lives nearby will pick up the bike. This buyer is brand new and has a feedback score of 0. I've already told my dad to make sure everything goes through paypal and ebay, and not to share any personal info. It doesn't sound as obvious as the Nigerian scams, but what else should I tell my dad to look for?
I have been a victim of an ebay scam...please help? Ebay Scam ? So I have a T-Mobile Sidekick 3 that I’m selling on ebay because I got a new photo with Verizon and I have no use for it now. I took some pictures of it myself and posted it online a few days ago. I also sent an email out to all my friends before putting it on ebay that I wanted to sell it and if anyone wanted it they could have it. No one got back to me until yesterday when one of my friends said she would buy it. I told her it was already on ebay and to just go bid on it. So as it turns out she gets a email today from “someone” who is pretending to be me saying this –“Good news! The following eBay item on which you placed a bid is now available for purchase because the seller has a duplicate item for sale.” And the email came with this personal message – “Message of the seller: Can you please tell me if you are still interested in my item 250208470086 ?I need to sell it as soon as possible and i`m ready to sell it for only US $120.00 .If you wish to buy the item for this price, please contact me as soon as possible. Waiting for your answer. Regards,” So here is the thing, I don’t have another one to sell and I never sent that email or message to anyone. She forwarded me the email and its got all the official ebay logo’s and text on it. And when you click the Item URL – it takes you to my page with the sidekick Im selling ! This has to be a scam! So guy is sending emails to people pretending to be me. what should I do ? And I just found out my friend got this same email 7 times in the past 2 days. this is the email it came from - From: eBay <member@ebay.au>

eBay scam??? I won an eBay action. An 'official' looking email came from eBay, telling me that I had to pay by Western Union. The rules state that no eBay seller can request payment by Western Union. Is this a scam?
ebay scam? Ebay scam? My husband recently listed an item on ebay and was paid for it with fake money orders. He has already sent the item and put the money orders in the bank. The bank caught them about 2 weeks after they were deposited. Does anyone know what his options are if any? Ebay - Scamming Possible? Not really..? I recently bought a sidekick 2 off of ebay, maybe about 2 days ago. Anyways, before buying the product, i looked at the guys details and comments. From all his buyers, he has 100% positive feedback. In overall, he has a 95.3% feedback. I trust him completely, but the problem is that i've been sending him emails for the past 2 days, and he hasn't returned any of them. It doesn't look like he speaks good english, so he may be foreign. Anyways, do you think i got scammed. Ebay scam?!? Hi, I recently bought a game on ebay. It had a great price, and almost too good to be true. However, the member had very good feedback and I checked other buyers to make sure they weren't fake. From what I can see, they weren't. Its been almost a week since i bought it. So I figured it was only some problems due to the weather or the something. I log on to ebay, and i noticed in the "items i've won" section, that the game i bought isnt being shown, but it was shown the day before. I didnt delete off the list or anything. It just disappeared. Now I can't even contact the seller because the i dont see the item anywhere. I don't know what to do now, and I'm very worried if it's a scam because i bought it for about $50. I'm going to give it another week AT THE MOST. What do you think i should do?

Ebay, Scam or not?? I bidded and won some dvd's off ebay and with shipping them come to 77.99. Now i see that the ebay has 100% feeedback but when i look at it its all as being a buyer not a seller. Ebay Scam? Okay, about two weeks ago, I purchased a cell phone from an ebay user. It sounded like medium cell phone selling company. Anywho, they said they had recieved the item and shipped it about 2 weeks ago. And as I wait here right now, my package has not arrived. From California to Philly and I still don't have it. I check the tracking number on Priority Mail and it says when it was shipped but was never recieved and dosn't even say the location. Ive now complained to the seller company/person about this and they say they have told the mail carrier to search for the package. And today they tell me that they cannot find the package. However, I have bought a phone from them before but it had phone software issues with it so I sent it back for an exchange and right now that is what I am waiting for. So what do you think? A scam? What should I do. I purchased this through Ebay.

I waited for 2 weeks, but I still didn't get my game. a few days later I got a message from him saying that he was in a car accident and he was in a hospital. by that time, I had filed a claim with paypal, but then he tells me to close the dispute. I thought he was telling the truth, so I closed it. then I waited 2 more weeks for the package, but it still didn't arrive. turned out that right at that time, the seller had also received many other negative feedbacks. that was when I found out that this guy is lying. and it should be obvious that I couldn't file another claim with paypal. now the seller's account says that he's not a registered seller anymore, but I'm sure that he's still doing his scamming jobs under another name, and I saw it. can anyone tell me how I can get my money back? I would appreciate it. I already contacted paypal AND ebay several times, the first time they both said I should talk to the seller, which won't respond, and the following times they didn't even answer, I don't know why.

ebay scam or genuine? i have posted a mobile phone for sale on ebay but is on a 3 day auction i recieved an email from someone in nigeria saying they have paid me some money wen they havent even bid on it or won the item,then i get an email from paypal saying tis person has paid me and i need to post the item and get a tracking number before the funds will be released into my account what the hell is going on is this a scam?? it is item number 160154595901 yes it hink its a scam to if i get any more email ill tell ebay i no to be wary about people in nigeria cos i had dealings with them about some african grey eggs they try anything to get ure money this one good tho,crafty gits!
Ebay scam running out of options!? in March of 06 i purchased a laptop off ebay for 1,950 i used paypal i couldnt use regular paypal i had to use paypal E-check due to the amount well it turned out to be a scam so i filed a complaint with paypal promptly they said they froze the guys bank account with my money in it the would investigate before he could get the money well they did and they found he was a scammer they contacted me said he got the money anyways but they would try to get it back well they didnt so i asked paypal for his info they said i have ot have a lawyer contact them my lawyer did then they replied that i needed my local police to fax them a letter so they did they said that it STILL not good enough that i had to get subpeona well i looked into it and they usually cost around $500 so im not going there all i know is this guy is in houston Texas his last name is Nguyen thats all and paypal will not help what are some options here please help this is alot of money and i cant let this creep win Thanks!

Ebay Scam or Legit? I recently bidded on a cell phone on ebay and I ended up being 2nd place for the item (a few dollars shy of the winning bid) I've received 4-5 emails from different people offering to sell me the phone at the price which I listed. Two different ones claim that they are the seller of the original item and are willing to sell it to me for my posted price, and a few for about $10 cheaper. Is this legit? Or am I being scammed
Ebay Scam?!? I've just recieved a message on Ebay from a user about a phone I'm selling on there.. He/she said they love the look of the phone, and will offer me £230.00 for it, when it isn't worth half of that?!?! They said if I give them my Paypal email address, they will send the money through straight away :S But I have to ship it to Africa for their cousin :S Does it sound like a scam? I'm not going to give them any information about myself, but what can they do with just my email address :S

Potential Ebay Scam? I have bought an item off ebay on accident (mistaken for another item) so I am somewhat forced into following through with this one. The seller will has only been a member for 1 month, has had 16 other auctions all for less than $2, will only accept discover or money order/cashiers check. The person has used paypal on all their other acutions until this one (where the price is significantly higher) So i asked them why they won't accept it and they said it's because their personal account has a deposit limit?? a) can a personal bank account have a bank limit? b)what would you do in this case since it blatantly appears to be a scam/fraud?
Vista Home Premium Ebay Scam? OK I have been shopping around for awhile now trying to find a cheap copy of vista home premium edition. Is this an ebay scam? Must be???? I found this machine for sale on ebay and the value of the machine is way way under priced so something must be up. I hate when people scam, however I want to know if any of you have run across such a scam and what you suggest I do to help bust this guy. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I see that he doesnt take paypal, and payment is being sent to a PO box. Also all his feedback is positive and all of it has been acculated in 3 months, some wehre he would get 10-15 positive feedback in a 2 day span. None of his feedback can be look at b/c its all over 90 days old. he doesnt list any other products and has no feedback as a seller just as a buyer. Is this a scam or am i just being paraniod...i already won the dvd's but im thinking of just taking the negitive feed back then losing 77$
is this an ebay scam of some sort? i recently sold a computer on ebay...in my auction description i stated that i only accept paypal, low-and behold the winner emerges with no paypal account,rather than tell him where to go, I proceed with trying to do this deal and instruct him to get a money order...he agrees, The End...Right? Wrong!!! So it has been Two weeks since the end of the auction, and nothing I email the winning bidder (from Canada by the way.) and instruct him that i have not received his money order, then he sends me some link of some canadien postal service I've never heard of...And it states that it has been "Delivered". I assure you that I never received Nor signed for anything at all...as for that link he sent me ? who knows... is this some elaborate scam...? any help on the matter would be helpfull... I still have the Computer... and so far everyhting has been e-mailed and done through Ebay.
