Paypal??????????????
If I'm using and connected to an unsecured wireless internet connection, is it safe to use Paypal? Is it visible to others with the same connection?

- yes it is safe because paypal is secure for every user regardless of your computer security.
- I sure wouldn't risk it -- but that's just me. I wouldn't take the chance that other people could get my important info. PayPal is a very secure site, itself; but still... It's best not to take chances, under those particular circumstances.
- I think the only way some one could view your paypal window is if you have a live "remote desktop" connection. simply becuase of the integrated security features in all of windows since windows 98 came out
- Is the page that you're using secure? That is, does it have a padlock on it and begin with https:// ? If yes, then you should be okay. If no, then anybody using the same wireless network as you would be able to get your username and password. However they would have to have special programs to do it, and most people wouldn't be able to unless they actully put some time and effort into it.
- any detail you enter within paypal is secure, because paypal uses the secure tunnel (https) to process your information however, you must remember that you will have to enter a few transaction details over your unsecured wireless network before you are allowed into the paypal SSL tunnel, the hacker may be able to see the early parts of your transaction and the preliminary information provided. if he is remote-connected to your session (assuming he is sharing your wireless with you), he/she will be able to see every thing you do because "he/she is on your PC with you" just like some one watching over your shoulder while you browse" this is not often the case any way, so if he was just criminally sharing your bandwidth to access the internet you will be alright. but who knows?
- Paypal's site is secure but on a unsecured wireless connection others can view your activity. It is hard to do so but it has happened and can happen. The chances that someone will do so during the exact time you are logging into paypal is less than 5%.
