Make Money On Ebay

Ebay Scam ?

So I have a T-Mobile Sidekick 3 that I’m selling on ebay because I got a new photo with Verizon and I have no use for it now. I took some pictures of it myself and posted it online a few days ago. I also sent an email out to all my friends before putting it on ebay that I wanted to sell it and if anyone wanted it they could have it. No one got back to me until yesterday when one of my friends said she would buy it. I told her it was already on ebay and to just go bid on it. So as it turns out she gets a email today from “someone” who is pretending to be me saying this –“Good news! The following eBay item on which you placed a bid is now available for purchase because the seller has a duplicate item for sale.” And the email came with this personal message – “Message of the seller: Can you please tell me if you are still interested in my item 250208470086 ?I need to sell it as soon as possible and i`m ready to sell it for only US $120.00 .If you wish to buy the item for this price, please contact me as soon as possible. Waiting for your answer. Regards,” So here is the thing, I don’t have another one to sell and I never sent that email or message to anyone. She forwarded me the email and its got all the official ebay logo’s and text on it. And when you click the Item URL – it takes you to my page with the sidekick Im selling ! This has to be a scam! So guy is sending emails to people pretending to be me. what should I do ? And I just found out my friend got this same email 7 times in the past 2 days. this is the email it came from - From: eBay <member@ebay.au>

  1. report it to ebay , with all headers of the email included you also can cancel the auction, pay the .20-.40 list fee and sell to her
  2. Delete your post and report it to ebay.
  3. I think Nigerian people that scam should be put out of their misery.
  4. always check the email server used to send that email. if it has like ebaymember@ebay-selling.com it is scam because it has ebay-selling. it should only have ebay.com. just ignore those and focus on your real auction until you sell it. also if your new itll, people will ask you if they can buy it for a rediculous price, ignore them as they try to scam you. try scambaiting, where you delay the scammer for a long time and just annoy the hell out of him at the end. its always fun! ps the scammer is trying to scam your friend by making her pay him, and she expects you to give it to her.
  5. Have your friend forward the email she received to spoof@ebay.com. Ebay will investigate and backtrack the email. You might also consider adding something in your item description that states that you do not send offers outside of ebay.
  6. Yes, definitely a scam, that is always discomforting. I think there is a way to change your username without losing all of your feedback, and I would also change your password. I think there is also a section on eBay to report this kind of thing.
  7. Under the circumstances I think you should call e-Bay and have the ad taken down at no charge. You are being used as a pawn in a scam and I'm sure they would not want that to proceed if they knew about it. Contact their security office.
  8. Did this email appear in your "messages" under your ebay account? If it didn't then it's a fraud. Report it to ebay. spoof@ebay.com They will let you know if it's real or not!
  9. contact eBay
  10. This is a scam. The scammers will see what folks are bidding on and send that e-mail to the bidder in hopes of tricking them into the scam. It is very easy to find folks bidding on items and send them messages trying to get them. Forward the scammer e-mail to spoof@ebay.com if it is an eBay scammer or spoof@paypal.com if it is a paypal scammer. Reporting the scams this way will help so dont think its a waste of time as it only costs a few seconds to forward the e-mail.
  11. Tell your friend to forward the emails, all of them, to spoof@ebay.com End your auction and change your password NOW ! Never EVER click on a link in an email you suspect as being a fraud, that's how phishing scammers get your info and accounts get hacked into. You might also want to talk to someone at Live Help to see if they suggest anything else.
