Does anyone know of any legit work from home websites? I am a stay at home mom and i would like to make some money but still be at home. I'm not looking for the create your own online business stuff, just something to do in my spare time that makes some money. I heard about a lot of wesites and then you have to pay to get the information and they are all scams... anyone have any advice?

  1. Sites like http://www.workwhistle.com are 'free to register' networks so are your safest option, but still take care if you connect with a potential work from home employer. And never, ever, pay to register for a job 'opportunity'.
  2. eLance.com offers a site for work wanted and work needed postings. Find a typing job you want, you earn a flat rate and eLance gets a commission off the job. Lots of one shot jobs posted for typing, copywriting, more. Or check out what I do, selling promotional advertising to business, industry, and government buyers, online and off, from my home office. By my choice, I prefer to call on clients face-to-face, so I'm in Houston, TX for 2 days, calling on my customers here.   3. I know a lot about this topic so please forgive the length of this reply. I have a lot of good info for you. I am a mother of two little girls who are actually tugging on my arm as I write this so I will try to be brief. Many people are looking for work from home companies. All the scams definitely create a big problem but also, there is a problem of people misunderstanding the difference between work from home "jobs" and work from home opportunities. There really are not work from home “jobs”. To get that you have to start working for a company in their offices first, then they MAY allow you to take the job home. Most of the work from home opportunities that are legitimate offers are not an hourly pay type job. They are business opportunities that help you in starting your own business from your home. What you should do first is to decide if you are simply looking for an hourly rate type job or if you are looking for more of an opportunity for additional income such as what you would make in your own business being your own boss from home. Many say a JOB stands for Just Over Broker and I have found that to be true as well. I never got anywhere working for others. Small home businesses have some small costs involved, less then $100 to start is reasonable and I would stay away from those wanting $300, $500 even some asking for $1000-$5000. It doesn’t cost that much to start and run a home business so you shouldn’t pay it. The real ones will have a small monthly overhead as well. Should be around $50 a month but no more then $75. And everything should be included from your web sites to training and team support to back office accounting and booking. It’s ok to pay this overhead because it’s a business, they cost money. It’s not reasonable to assume you can run a business from home with a website and more for free so do keep that in mind as you search. If you are coming across places that say free then I would RUN don’t walk the other way! They never are. I tried them many a times and 3 weeks later I had to buy this and 6 weeks later that. After 6 months these “free businesses” had cost me over $800 on average. I’m a stay at home mom of two little girls as I mentioned, ages 1 and 3. I work about 15-18 hours per week for a National Medical Benefits Company. This is a home business, a nationally known and reputable home business which is what you need to make sure you are looking for. I have been with the company almost a year now and I make over $2000 a month! In your first month, depending on how many hours you can work, I have seen people make anywhere from $300 to over $3000. And your income will increase each month because we get paid residual income as well. If I continue on as I am going at the end of the year I will be making $5000 a month. My friend Becky from South Carolina started 2 years before me and she is now making $95,000 a year with this company. The best part is they have 401(k), direct deposit, life insurance and a benefits package most of which you get from day one. In addition, there are no products, no hard selling or pushing, no cold calling, no home parties and no telemarketing! That was VERY important to me. I absolutely love working with them and I can't believe I am making what I am making and in so few hours per week. The neat thing is there are other people on your team that you work with so you are never alone. You have great team support and you get to know the other people on your team pretty well. The support is great but I have made wonderful friends as well. I think that’s important too, especially being at home! I was a bit apprehensive at first because I know a lot of companies are not legit but this company is the number one National Medical Benefits Company in the US. They are a member of the US Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Dental Plans and the owner of the company actually sits on the board of The Consumer Health Alliance to which we are also members. Also they were featured in “The New York Times”, “Wall Street Journal” “Time Magazine” and the “American Medical Review”. Even “60 Minutes” with Morley Safer did a big special on this home based business. Even more then all this is they are accepted at over 100,000 retailers nation wide. These are fortune 500 companies like Sears, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Wal-mart, Publix and more. These companies would never work with a company that was any thing less then reputable. That made me feel very good about working with them knowing they were accepted at these stores that I frequent. Also now of course being with them I get the dental and vision benefits for free and I saved over $150 on my last visit to the dentist! That’s just a beautiful perk! : - ) When I first started I just felt very safe with them, that and my friend was already making so much money with Ameriplan. But at this point I feel a sense of security financially that our family has never had before. That plus LOVING what you do? What could be better? Check them out!   8. There are many home based business out there and it is quite overwhelming to find what works and doesn't. I know from personal experience that it can be quite costly and time consuming to start something without knowing and understanding the industry. I've been doing some work with www.elance.com the past week, all the work is home based, data entry, transcription etc. The only thing is you're competing against people from countries where the hourly rate of pay is a lot lower, so not sure if it would be worth it for you. So many online jobs are out there. In fact, to do any online job, you need not want to invest anything. Make sure, you dont pay anything to get jobs online.   18. I can help you. I'm a stay at home mom myself and I work from home doing proofreading. I can tell you that the best place to start is http://www.wahm.com message boards. There is tons of information there that will help you avoid scams. Next, go to http://www.workathomedesk.com which is a free site that has a directory of legitimate companies that hire home workers. Depending on your skills and experience, you should find some good leads there. One thing to keep in mind, is that finding and applying for these jobs can take time. Many times you will never hear back from jobs you applied for. This is typically because the competition for these positions is high and employers often get an overwhelming response. Create a good resume that you can taylor for each job you apply for. Hope this helps! Good luck!

  20. you can do legit call center work for several companies out there! You'll make at least minimum wage to start! Don't pay for anything other than a background check. That's fair enough I feel, you'll be handling customer service calls, generally but there are other lines that do specialize like tech support or billing. I always check my future clients out on www.workplacelikehome.com it's a message board w/ 5000 or more work at home moms, dads, students. There is no cost and all the information you need is there. Also data entry jobs etc if you can do medical coding or really fast typer! The company I work for is called West and I've been w/ them for 3 years now. I can work when i want 24 hours a day in 30 min shifts...i usually work 2 hour shifts in the morning and maybe 1 or 2 at night...but it gives me plenty of time to do volunteer work and be a Mom and I really enjoy the work too! It's not hard they even pay to train you ...some states are not accepted by West yet...they just converted from independent contractor status to employee status...so the benefits are more now.   21. I have tried Ameriplan. It didn't work for me. I payed $99 for the basic kit. The support was terrible, and I was at it for 6 months. I never made a dime. In fact I just lost money every month. I would not recommend it at all. If you want an honest job to do from home, look in to blogging for money. That is what I am starting to look in to. As did I, I tried herbal life great product whilst i did do okay from that it just takes a little longer to make money and you need to purchase the products every month. Be careful with data entry work from home opportunity. I got scammed. You are taking a risk when they say only $100 - 250 to join you need to find out what are the start up costs, training, sales platform, lead generation, do you have to purchase the product every month or can you just buy 1 product outright once only. There was no way i was going to get scammed again. There are only a few substantial work from home opportunities from home they are in health, information, wellness. They are in forms of mlm, direct marketing and becoming a member. I have been in a work from home business for over 11 months now - i love the product and the people in Australia are brilliant and very helpful. Spot a pyramid scheme a mile away, People tend to be skeptical about opportunities online, they often get them confused with pyramid schemes. The way to tell if it is a pyramid scheme is to determine if the company offers a real product or service. If so, it cannot be classified as a pyramid scheme.   24. Hi there, this is a question lots of people ask and believe me 90% of the replies are scams, either looking for you to give them more information or get you to pay them for an Ebook. I finally had enough of getting up at 6.15am, leaving for work at 7am, a 2 hours drive to work and another 2 hours in the evening, before finally arriving home at the earliest 8pm and its usually closer to 9pm. So I have been researching the genuine work from home opportunities which are available and thought I'd share this information for free with anybody else who's also interested. http://www.working-from-home-jobs.com/ I got caught with this at the beginning, I paid $50 for an ebook, but it didnt actually contain any useful information. Basically what they suggested was I re-sell the ebook, so that was their plan for a work at home job, I'd have to convince other people to give me $50. Anyways I wasnt interested in that as a Work from Home job.
