Do you work from home?

i earn a decent wage, but when i go on maternity leave it is unpaid leave meaning that my husband and i will be broke. we have some savings, but would rather keep them for medical emergencies. i am not entitled to any financial support from the government, and i am trying to find work that i can do from home or with an infant. i'd like to earn decent money, but i want to keep my baby with me until he/she turns 15mths. any suggestions? what work do you do from home?

  1. Could you consider tutoring? The pay is reasonable and you can set your own hours and have students come to your home. If you live in a university town you might be able to provide a service using word processing skills to do assignments and resumes for students. Best of luck with it.
  2. My DREAM is to own a home daycare. In my state you can have up to 6 children (only 2 of those children can be 3 or younger)... Theres a lot of regulations and stuff though, you'd have to set up for it...and I'm not sure if you would want to do that, becuase maybe you'd want something more flexible that allows you to be with just your baby. What is the job that you work at now? I know a few parents from the childcare center that I work at are accountiants. They have their clients go to their homes, they do peoples taxes and stuff like that. Keeping your baby home with you is a great idea. The childcare center I work at takes babies that are as young as 6weeks old! I feel so bad for the parents becuase they miss out on some of the most amazing moments with their babies. They dont realize that these babies arent going to be babies forever. Good luck to you!
  3. Hi Cindy, What are your skill sets? Not your job but the skills you use to do your job. I work from home and I love it. I was laid off a few years ago from a job I hated and haven't gone back to a job except for a few months last year since then. What you need to do is examine your skill sets and then find a need to fill that uses those skills. You might not even want to go back to a j-o-b once you find something you really love doing that uses your skills and makes you money besides.
