Ebay Scam or Legit?
I recently bidded on a cell phone on ebay and I ended up being 2nd place for the item (a few dollars shy of the winning bid) I've received 4-5 emails from different people offering to sell me the phone at the price which I listed. Two different ones claim that they are the seller of the original item and are willing to sell it to me for my posted price, and a few for about $10 cheaper. Is this legit? Or am I being scammed

- Don't do it. It sounds like they are trying to scan you. All ebay items should be sent within the ebay system, that way you will be covered if someone does happen to screw you over.
- If you received a legitimate second chance offer sanctioned by ebay you will find a message in your ebay messages in my ebay. Otherwise you should be wary.
- Or the seller is just trying to save on listing and final value fee's. It's not a big deal. I've bought off sellers that way before. It may not be any scam. Believe me, eBay & paypal make enough money as it is. It's okay if a seller wants to step away from the fee's from time to time - it keeps the prices down for the buyers....so I say go for it. Tell the sellers that you'll buy the cell phone - but only if they take (for example) $5 - $10 off the price & make sure the package is insured when shipping it to you. And.. Pay with either paypal or a credit card... this way IF this is a scam then you can always get your money back (paypal is good that way, and your Cc company is even better at getting your money back). also, make sure that the item is under some warrenty...(unless it's used, then it's generally sold as is)
- Unless it is the original person you placed a bid with & they are asking you to purchase through Ebay. You can go back to your original bid & email that person. Be careful opening those. Do not click on them or answer them. Go to your Ebay and go to the bottom of home and click Security & Resolution, then go to the bottom and click Stopping spoof emails & websites & report them. I had a similiar issue. They will handle them!! : )
- Usually someone else has the same item and is trying to get rid of theirs without listing it on ebay..Or they may just keep your money and not mail you anything. If you go outside of ebay you will not be able to file any claim to try to get your money back if you are scammed. You will just be out the money...I always send a 2nd chance offer thru Ebay themselves. Not just a email to the 2nd highest bidder....Thanks
