Make Money On Ebay

ebay selling advice?

Need eBay selling advice in a list or "steps to take, in order" format. First time seller of personal items/garage sale items not bulk wholesale items. Issues of concern: open new credit card to track sales necessary? Shipping charges, should they be a flat rate or what? Returns and privacy.. will describe detail in posting with photos but do not want returns as the point is to get rid of them. Are all sales auction type until you reach some level of selling or can you post "sell it now" right off the bat? Does everyone get a post office box to deal with communications or returns? We are just having an online garage sale and are concerned people might deal with us like we are a business and either stop payments because we do not have a rating yet or be disgruntled about shipping charges. How can we keep this garage sale like yet sell all our items in a professional manner so that everyone is happy with their items and us. Do not have scale or postage calculator/print supplies.

  1. Alright I'll try to tackle this one.... The main thing is to just be up front with people. Give good descriptions/pictures and post shipping fees clearly and all will be ok. If you don't want to deal with returns than just say so....all sales final ect ect. I would suggest taking good pictures. You can avoid the ebay fees on pics by using a free service for image hosting....there's a million of them on the web but I'd suggest www.imagecave.com If you have frontpage or any other html builder you can design your entire page rather easily and just copy/paste the code into ebay. You shouldn't need to open a new credit card for this. Ebay will give you a monthly billing invoice and you can pay out of your paypal acct. if you have one or direct from a bank acct. You do need to reach a small selling level before you can offer the buy it now so your first couple of auctions will in fact be auctions. Do a little research on the items your selling and you'll have a pretty good idea on what the going rate is. You can setup the starting price as little or high as you like but you'll get hit with listing fees as you move up the ladder. As far as postage....depends on shipping method. If you're using the post office you can get a pretty close estimate right from the website. www.usps.com Just make sure to splurge the extra 50 cents for delivery confirmation. ups & fedex will also give solid estimates on their sites. enjoy ;)
